Electronegativity Correlations

Postby ngarcia » Fri Nov 01, 2019 3:39 pm

If ionization energy and electron affinity are high, then an atom will have high electronegativity. Does this mean ionization energy and electron affinity positively correlate with electronegativity?

Yes, considering both increase across a period, and decrease down a group, it is considered a positive correlation.

Yes. Ionization energy and electron affinity positively correlate with electronegativity since the periodic trends align.

Correct, the electronegativity increases to the right and up on the Periodic Table - so do ionization energy and electron affinity.
