Electronegativity decreases down a group due to the increase in shells making the electrons further from the nucleus therefore decreasing the attraction between the protons and electrons.

Electrons will be further away from the nucleus in increasing shells, therefore pull on electrons is less.

The larger the shell gets the lower electronegativity the element will have because that larger outer shell's electron is a lot farther from the nucleus.

Electronegativity goes down the periodic table because as the electrons are farther away from the nucleus, there is decreased attraction thereby lessening the pull.

Electronegativity decreases down a column because the atom gets larger and the electron gets farther away from the pull of the positively charged nucleus. Ionization is related to this since this weaker pull allows less energy to be needed to remove an electron from an atom.

Electronegativity of an element is derived by combing both its ionization energy and electron affinity mathematically with the equation (Ionization Energy + Electron Affinity) / 2.
When going down a column in the periodic table, ionization energy and electron affinity both decreases because as the atomic radius increases, it's easy for the element to lose an electron and hard to add one extra. Thus, based on the mathematical expression, electronegativity decreases as going down a column in the periodic table.
