Electric dipole

Postby belleembreyDIS1L » Thu Nov 07, 2024 11:27 am

What are electric dipoles? Are they the same thing as a dipole moment? If not, what are the main differences.

Hi! Electric dipoles consist of two equal and opposite charges separated by a distance and they represent the physical arrangement of charges. The dipole moment is a vector quantity that quantifies the strength and direction of the arrangement, calculated by the product of the charge and the distance between them.
