Dipole-Dipole Interaction

How can you tell if a molecule is capable of forming dipole-dipole interactions?

Hi! A molecule is able to have dipole-dipole interactions with the same type of molecule if the molecule is polar. You can tell if a molecule is polar if there is a large electronegativity between the atoms bonded together in the molecule. For instance, H2O can form dipole-dipole interactions with itself because there is a large electronegativity difference between H and O, making the molecule polar and thus able to form dipole-dipole interactions with other H2O molecules. Hope this helps!
