What does it mean by negative pole? Does this have to do with the electronegativity of the molecules? If so, how do you find this?

Hi,

To find the negative pole you draw all the dipole moments and think of them as vectors. Pay attention to the difference in EN because that plays into the magnitude of the vector relative to other bonds. Then determine the net vector when you combine all the individual dipole moments.

The negative pole has to do with the atoms' electronegativity. The negative pole would be by the atoms that are more electronegative, which increases as you go across the period on the periodic table.
