Polarity and Dipole moments

Postby Vanessa Reyes_1K » Sat Nov 10, 2018 10:43 pm

So if a molecule has a dipole moment it will then have a net charge and therefore be polar? Or does polarity and dipole moments have no direct relationship?

Dipole moment generally decides the polarity of a molecule.

The overall polarity of a molecule can be considered the vector additions of the all the dipole moments. they can either cancel each other out or add up.
