Shape of Molecule

How does the shape of the molecule affect the strength of the dipole interactions? And why would it matter?

The shape basically shows the electron density, so there will only be those interactions where there is/isnt an electron.

The shape matters because of the available surface area. For example, two rod shaped molecules will be able to have more of their surface area (more of their electron clouds) near each other and this will strengthen the interaction. On the other hand, two spherical shaped molecules will have less of an interaction.
