Dipole moments

Postby Kyle Thorin » Mon Nov 18, 2019 1:18 pm

In which direction do you draw the dipole moments for the test. Towards the more negative partial charge or towards the more positive partial charge?

I think Dr. Lavelle mentioned we would be using convention, which is drawing it towards the negative charge.

Dipole moments will be drawn with the arrow pointing towards the partial negative element, rather than the partial positive.

From the positive to the negative charge. Within a bond, not the entire molecule.

Draw it with the arrow pointing towards the negative rather than the positive.
