Bond Lengths and Angles

Postby Yasmine Alameddine 2H » Wed Nov 22, 2023 1:14 pm

What is the significance of the relationship between bond lengths and bond angles-- like what is the purpose of determining such?

Hi! It's important to find the bond lengths and angles to know figure out the accurate structure. For example, it is important to know this to find out if a structure is polar/nonpolar or stable which can affect how it bonds to other molecules.

A molecule's bond angles and lengths are important in giving us its shape. For example, if a molecule's bond angle is inaccurate, and the wrong shape is predicted, this could affect the compound's chemical properties (solubility, boiling point, etc).
