Knowing the bond angles can help identify the structure of the molecule. For example, having three angles of 120 degrees implies that there are three regions of high electron density. So, knowing the bond angles can help understand if repulsion from the presence of lone pairs occurs. The shape with the least amount of repulsion is then more stable.
