Bond length energies
Why do double and triple bonds have more energy and are shorter than single bonds?

I think it's because the additional bonding electrons attract the nuclei more strongly and pull the atoms closer together, hence the length is shorter.

If there are more electrons shared and thus bonded together, it requires more energy to keep them in place along with then keep the bonds closer together due to the fact there is more energy involved.

The positive charge on the nucleus attracts the extra electrons in the double and triple bonds thus causing a stronger bond.
