I believe the reason is because with two bonds mean a stronger hold between the two atoms so they are pulled closer together. while a single bond is held more loosely between the two atoms and would not be held as tightly making it longer. hopefully that helps.

Single bonds are weaker than double bonds (attraction between 2 electrons and the nucleus vs attraction of 4 electrons and the nucleus which is stronger). Since they are weaker, the electrons are less tightly pulled towards the atoms (they are further apart in space) and thus, have a longer length.
This is the trend:
stronger bond = shorter bond
weaker bond = longer bond
single bond - triple bond = weakest - strongest
