3.123 Methane, the most abundant hydrocarbon in the atmosphere, is slowly oxidized in the air to carbon dioxide. Both compounds contribute to global warming, with CH4 more potent than CO2. An intermediate in the oxidation of methane to carbon dioxide is HOCO. (a) Draw the Lewis structure for this compound. (b) Determine if the compound is a radical.

How can a compound be radical?

A compound can be radical if it has an unpaired electron.
