Strength related to reactivity

Postby Kyle Harvey 4F » Sun Nov 03, 2019 11:55 am

How does bond length relate to reactivity? Are shorter bonds typically more or less reactive than bonds with longer lengths?

Since longer bonds are weaker and easier to break, they are more likely to be involved in a reaction. Stronger bonds are shorter, harder to break, and less reactive.

Longer bonds are weaker than shorter bonds and are therefore easier to break. Also, single bonds are longer than double bonds.
