Quiz for Next week dashes/wedges

Does anyone know if there's going to be a question on the quiz about dashes and wedges? Or anything related to that because Lavelle said not to worry about it in lecture.

I do not think we need to know about dashes and wedges for any tests. I believe we were simply introduced to it so that if it ever came up in the textbook, we would understand what is going on.

Even if there is, it's easy to remember that wedges mean the bond is towards you and dashes are pointing away from you.

I don't think we will ever have to draw a diagram with dashes and wedges; we would just have to name the molecular shape. But if you were asked to do so, the wedged bond would be the bond closest to you while the dashed bond is the one behind it.

In class he mentioned that we can just draw a normal Lewis Structure as long as we name the shape I think. Do we have to worry about where we arrange the atoms around the central atom (example: drawing a tetrahedral shape vs square planar) or can we just draw it normally and name the shape after?

We can draw normally and then name the shape after. Lewis structures only focus on what bonds to what, not on electron repulsion

What are the purpose of dashes and wedges, instead of making sure we don't indicate bonds instead of lone pairs and bond angles.
