Dashes and Wedges

Postby 105194078 » Thu Nov 14, 2019 2:21 pm

Since there won't be anything on next week's quiz about dashes and wedges then does that mean they wouldn't ask about tetrahedral, trigonal bipyramidal or octahedral shapes? Or would they but just as 2D?

Dashes and wedges are just another way of drawing the structure of the molecule that allows us to visualize its depth and its 3D shape. I think the quiz will most likely still asks us about tetrahedral, trigonal bipyramidal or octahedral shapes

We won't be asked to actually draw the dashes/wedges diagrams.

Dashes and wedges are used to draw the structure of the molecule. We won't be asked to do this.

We will be asked to identify the structures, so learn and memorize them, but you don't have to be able to draw it.
