Compound stability
If we are asked to determine the most stable compound should we be looking at the bond lengths or IMFs?

I think you need to take both of them into consideration and resonance since resonance provides stability aswell. I wonder if we can choose just one of those characteristics and base our answers on that.

I think we look at the intramolecular bonds when determining the most stable compound. IMFs can be taken into account when we think about the solid, liquid or gas phase of a compound at room temperature, or when we think about melting or boiling points.

Remember to look at the formal charges as well. The least amount of formal charges equals the most stable Lewis structure.

I would first look at intermolecular forces. If they're of the same type, then examine the bond length.
