Difference between bond multiplicity and bond order

Postby Jamie Wang 3C » Fri Dec 11, 2020 4:25 am

Initially, I thought they were the same, but after looking on google, it turns out that multiplicity refers to possible orientations? Can someone explain?

Hi! So the strength of a bond can be measured by its dissociation energy so the stronger the bond the greater the dissociation energy. Also bond strength increases as multiplicity increases, which is single, double, and tripe bonds. A triple is stronger than a double which is stronger than a single. And the strength of a bond can be measured by the atomic radii so the bigger the atomic radii the weaker the bond! I hope this helps

Do we have to know how to find bind order for the final?
