Lewis Dot Structures

Is there a pattern to predicting the structure of molecules? I.e. when a molecule is not linear, how should you know what molecules to attatch?

The central atom is the one with the least electronegativity except for hydrogen and the rest of the atoms are symmetrically bonded around that central atom. However, with some molecules that have more than one central atom, it would be based on the groups present in the atom. Meanwhile, some structures such as C6H6 form rings.
