How do I know which way each bounded molecule will go in a 3D structure

The VSEPR theory states that the molecules want to be as far as possible. First, start by drawing a general Lewis Structure. If any of the atoms have lone pairs, then that will also cause repulsion. Taking all of this into account, you want to draw the model with the atoms as far from each other as possible and then visualize that as a 3D shape. I hope this helps!
