Chapter 4 Question #13 part b

In part b of the question it asks you to write the Lewis structure, VSEPR formula, molecular shape, and bond angles for POCL3

I understand how the shape will come out to tetrahedral with the three chlorines and an oxygen atom around the phosphorus but the solutions manual said the bond angles should be 109.5 degrees.

I was wondering if the bond angles were slightly different because of how the atoms around the phosphorus were different from each other. Won't the chlorine to oxygen atom repulsion be different than the chlorine to chlorine repulsion? I would think the chlorine atoms would cause more repulsion since it is a larger molecule and thus has more electrons.

109.5 degree in this case is just an approximation. The angle will change corresponding to different atoms.
