So I have encountered varied answers to this question and want something final.
Does the square pyramidal shape (Ax5E) have bond angles of 90, 180, or LESS THAN 90 and 180?

Well since there is a lone pair, it causes the bonds on the sides to push down making them less than 90 degrees.

These (credible) websites suggest that it's 90/120 degree angles.

I personally wouldn't worry too much because on the practice midterms, Prof Lavelle sometimes puts "slightly less than 120" OR "120," to describe bonding angles in various shapes, indicating that either answer would get full credit. (See Q7 on page 189 and Q7 on page 207 in the course reader.) That said, you might want to check with a TA.
