Which one do I draw?

How do you know when you're supposed to draw a plain Lewis Structure, or the cool 3-D VSEPR one? Will the instructions tell you? Does it matter?

Hi, Im pretty sure that they question will ask you. Such as: "Write the Lewis Dot Structure for "certain molecule". And if they require a VSEPR model, the question would say something along the lines of: "what shape does the molecule take according to the VSEPR model" or something.

I agree but I feel that we are going to mostly be asked to draw the lewis structure and just say what is the molecular shape like in the examples we did on Friday.

During lecture, we were told that we would not necessarily have to draw the 3D VSEPR models. We would most likely have to write down the molecular geometry of the compound.

I think we will mostly be asked to draw lewis structures to figure out the bonds and areas of high electron density. From VSEPR we will probably be asked to identify molecular structure and bond angles.

I think Professor Lavelle said we would pretty much never have to draw the 3D vsepr model. For vsepr, we will probably only be asked to name the structure, bond angles, and to give the vsepr formula, which would be in the form AXE
