Extent of memorization

Will we be required to know the bond angles in addition to nomenclature for VSEPR?

We will definitely have to know the nomenclature for VSEPR, and I'm pretty sure we will have to know the common bond angles. We will probably have to know the angles for linear, trigonal planar, tetrahedral, trigonal bipyramidal, and octahedral. We won't have to know bond angles for things like trigonal pyramidal, bent, and other molecules with lone pairs because the values of these angles is experimental and varies from molecule to molecule.

We'll also have to know that the repulsion between a lone pair of an electrons and a bond is greater than the repulsion between two bonds- so knowing that something with a tetrahedral electron geometry will have bond angles of slightly less than 109.5 between the bonds is important too. But we won't need to know the experimentally determined values of the bond angles, as those vary from compound to compound.
