Predicting bond angles

Is there any other way to predict bond angles than having to write out the full Lewis structure, then determine what shape it is, then determine the angles? I feel like there must be a shorter way since some questions ask you to "predict" them.

In order to find bond angles you have to have an idea of whether there's lone pairs or whether an element will have more electronegativity. So you don't have to draw lewis structure as long as you have an idea of what the bond relationships are.

In terms of difficulty, drawing out the lewis structure, is in my opinion, probably the easiest way to know the bond angles. That way you can see visually the number of lone pairs and bonds on the atoms.

The simplest trick is knowing how many bonding areas are on a given molecule. If you don't know it, then Lewis structure is your next bet, from which you can figure geometric shape and thus bond angles. Familiarity with elements' bond patterns helps

After figuring out how many bonding areas there are, you still need to distinguish from atoms and lone pairs. Can't just rely on geometric shape to find bond angles because lone pairs affect the angles but only atoms are used to name the shape
