T-shaped and Trigonal Pyramidal

Since both of these structures have 4 atoms, how do you determine if it is t-shaped or trigonal pyramidal?

T-shaped structures have 5 regions of electron density with 2 lone pairs, while Trigonal Pyramidal structures have 4 regions of election density with 1 lone pair.

T shaped have two lone pairs and trigonal pyramidal have one.

T-shaped has 3 atoms and 2 lone pair electrons around the central atom.
Trigonal pyramidal has 3 atoms and 1 lone pair electron around the central atom.

T-shape has 2 lone e- pairs and around the central plane where as trigonal pyramidal has 1 lone e- pair on the top or bottom of the central atom.

T-shaped: AX(3)E(2)
Trigonal Pyramidal: AX(3)E(1)

Think about the steric number of the compound. So if it is an Sn of 5 then break it down to three bonds and 2 lone pairs making it a T- shape.
