Homework 4.41

Postby Yang Chen 2E » Thu Nov 23, 2017 11:08 pm

The question wants us to draw the lewis structure of CH2CHCN, determine the hybridization of the carbon atom orbitals, and determine the bond angles. I'm wondering if the double bond between the first and second carbon would cause the H-C-C bond angle to be more than 120 degrees and the H-C-H bond to be less than 120 degrees.

I'm pretty sure it would although it would only be slightly less and slightly more, respectively.

Thank you for clearing that up, it helped me a lot.
