if I wanted to denote that an atom has 3 lone pairs in the vsepr model would it be E^3 or E<subscript>3

When denoting how many electrons there are in the VSEPR model with E (lone pair electrons) and X (bonding pair electrons), the number would always be subscript. Hope this helps!

It would be E subscript 3. So assuming there is one bonding pair (X) the formula would be AXE(subscript 3).
