Lewis Structure for VSEPR
I noticed in the solution manual that many of the Lewis structures are not the most stable structure. I know that this does not make a difference when it comes to making the VSEPR formula, but I had been drawing the most stable ones out of habit. Does this not matter as much in this unit? As in, would we have points taken off if we didn't have the most stable Lewis structure when determining the VSEPR formula?

Re: Lewis Structure for VSEPR
I think a good rule of thumb is to always use the most stable lewis structure unless otherwise noted. Just to be safe, and to show you know how to get the most stable structure.

Re: Lewis Structure for VSEPR
I think it was mentioned by the TA's/Lavelle to draw the lewis structure with the least resonance. I'm not sure for VSEPR, but it's probably a good idea to keep drawing the most stable structure so that you don't forget to do so for a lewis structure during the final and such. But this is a good question since finding the most stable might be a bit more time consuming.
