Bond Angle
How do you determine the exact bond angle? I understand that based of lone pairs we can determine whether or not an angle will be less than 109.5 but is there a way to know the exact angle/ make a close estimate or do you have to look up the number.

Re: Bond Angle [ENDORSED]
Exact bond angles cannot be obtained from VSEPR. Exact bond angles are obtained from experimental data.

Re: Bond Angle
When determinong bond angles we can only guess that they areless than the accepted amounts when lone pairs are present.

Re: Bond Angle
In the notes he gave us the number of degrees for each type of angle/vsepr model. You should review the notes and try to memorize them!!

Re: Bond Angle
The absolute exact bond angle is not necessary to know because they are different for every molecule, knowing the general angles (like either 109.5 or <109.5) is good enough because exact angles require experimental data.
