2E.1. Below are ball-and-stick models of two molecules. in each case, indicate whether there must be, may be or cannot be one or more lone pairs of electrons on the central atom.
Part A shows a trigonal planar ball-and-stick model with 120˙ and Im not sure what the answer would be! Thank you!

Since it shows a structure that isn't fully linear, we can deduce that there must be some sort of electron density on the central atom that is causing repulsion of the other atoms joined to the central atom. Therefore, we can be sure there is a lone pair causing repulsion, "bending" the shape or becoming angular. So, it would make sense that there must be a lone pair. (A good way to analyze structures is to realize the repulsive effects of electron pairs).

There must be lone pairs because since the shape is bent, and not linear, you can recognize that lone pairs are causing repulsion and with that, the bent shape.
