As an example, think of enzymes. Substrate-Enzyme relationships depend on active sites shape. The shape of an active site depends on electron density. Without the right match of a substrate, enzymes cannot function.
Enzymes and proteins have active sites which other molecules bind to; they are then converted into some product and released. The shape of an enzyme's active site, which is influenced by electronic structure, determines what kind of molecules can attach to it, and therefore what the function of that enzyme is, so shape plays an important role in biological activity.
This isn't something we particularly have to know, but its just saying that the shape plays a role in how certain things function. Like a protein would work better folded in a certain way vs if it was just a chain of amino acids. The shape can either improve its ability or diminish it.
