VSEPR Formula

What is the VSPER Formula that homework questions 4.11, 4.13, 4.15 (6th edition) ask to write? Is it important to know?

Hi! I think they're asking for the AXE format, where A is the central atom, X are the atoms that bond to the central, and E is the number of lone pairs on the central atom.

For example, SCl4 has one central atom, four surrounding atoms, and one lone pair on the central atom So the VSEPR formula is AX4E. It might be important to understand what each letter means and how to find it, but I don't think you need to know anything more than that!
