WIll understanding dipole moments be important for VSEPR theory?

Dipole moments aren't directly related to VSEPR theory, but they will determine whether a molecule is polar or nonpolar.

The other way around is true as you can use VSEPR to predict whether a molecule has a net dipole moment.
