VSEPR Shapes

If the shape of a molecule is determined by the number of bounded atoms, then what is the difference of t shaped and trigonal pyramidal?

The amount of lone pairs around the central atom also matters as in a T Shape there are 2 lone pairs on the central atom that makes the other atoms move over. On Trigonal Planer the lone pairs of the other atoms push eachother to make a triangle

T shaped has two pairs of unpaired electrons (AX3E2). Trigonal pyramidal has only one pair of unpaired electrons AX3E. Remember that the shape of a molecule is determined both by bonded AND unbonded pairs.

An atom is trigonal pyramidal if it has four areas of electron density but only has three bonding electron pairs, or AX3E. An atom is t-shape if it has five areas of electron density but only has four bonding electron pairs, or AX3E2.

Remember to name the shape of the molecule using position of only bound atoms (bonding electron pairs only). However, the molecular shape is determined by both lone pairs and bonding pairs because of repulsion.
