Model formation

Postby ConnorRazmaDis2I » Sun Nov 18, 2018 7:42 pm

Are there any VESPER shapes that can form from two different types of Lewis structures? For instance is it possible for Ax3 E1 and AX5 E2 to form the same shape?

I don't think so since you have different amounts of lone pairs and bonded pairs around the central atom, this changes the Lewis structure since the way you would format it would have to abide by how much repulsion and stabilization the model has.

It wouldn't correspond to a different model in total, but the angles can differ based on which atoms are present and their relative forces of electronic repulsion.
