Molecules with more than 2 different elements
Is there a rule that states when a molecule has more than 2 elements in it the molecule becomes polar?

Re: Molecules with more than 2 different elements
An atom with the same element would not be polar because there would be no difference in electronegativity.

There isn't necessarily a rule for that, but you can identify many things, such as symmetry (symmetry=nonpolar, asymmetry=polar), electronegativity, and shape.

No, it is not a rule because polarity depends not on the amount of elements but the characteristics of the elements.
