Does it matter which atoms you orient where when you draw the molecular structure for a molecule that is trigonal planar?

It shouldn't matter as long as the overall structure is an equilateral triangle if you were to draw straight lines connecting the atoms surrounding the central atom.

This applies to the angles?

Yeah this should also apply to the angles as well. Any molecule that is trigonal planar will have 120 degree angles between each pair of bonded atoms.

The orientation of a shape doesn't really matter on the test since Professor Lavelle doesn't expect us to draw the shape. He only wants to know the Lewis structures of molecules and find the shape from that.
