Slightly less than bond angles

Postby Adrian C 1D » Sat Nov 24, 2018 1:37 pm

If a vsepr model has lone pairs resulting in the bond angle being slightly less than whatever it is usually, would we have to know the exact angle or can we just answer slightly less than?

You would just say slightly less than what the normal bond angle is.

We can just answer slightly less than. I don't think we are expected to know the exact angle because it can differ from structure to structure at a minute level.

Are there other circumstances other than lone pairs that would make bond angles "slightly less than" or are these the cases that we are supposed to understand?

lavelle said in lecture that you don't need to know the exact bond angle of the angles that are slightly less than the regular angle , you just have to show that you know it is slightly less than the regular angle
