Even though radicals only have one unpaired valence electron, their single electron is also considered a region of high energy density and is treated like a lone pair in VSEPR.

The single electron in a radical has enough charge to influence the position of the other orbitals in the molecule.

How will we know if a molecule is going to be a radical?

a radical is still treated as a electron density in VSEPR.
