can anyone explain why N2 has a lower boiling point than C4H8? also, in general what is a good way to rank the bond length/boiling point?

Hi,

The boiling point depends on the intermolecular forces.

N2 and C4H8 both are non-polar molecule so the only intermolecular force is London force. Larger molecular size larger London force. Since C4H8 has larger size than N2, the boiling point of C4H8 will be higher.

Hope that helps:)
