Homework 6th Edition 4.13

For number 13 in chapter 4 in the sixth edition, it asks to write the lewis structure, VSEPR formula, molecular shape, and bond angles for I3-.

The solutions manual says that the molecular shape is linear, but shouldn't the shape be T-shaped because there are three lone pairs on the central atom and the VSEPR formula is AX2E3?

it's not t-shaped because t-shaped would have three bonds attached to the central atom and two lone pairs (AX3E2) but it is linear because i think the three lone pairs on the central iodine balance out the three lone pairs on the other two iodine.
