Bond Angles
Are we expected to know the exact bond angles on the test? Or just naming the shape of the molecule. Thank you!

Re: Bond Angles
We are expected to know the shape of the molecule but not the exact bond angles. However, when there are lone pairs surrounding the central atom, we are expected to know that the bond angles are slightly less compared to central atoms with no lone pairs.

Re: Bond Angles
Just know the basic bond angles for the shapes where there are no lone pairs attached to the central atom. The only bond angle that is a bit tricky to figure out is that for tetrahedral the bond angle is 109.5 degrees.

Not always because sometimes the lone pairs are on opposite sides so the repulsions can cancel each other out.

Re: Bond Angles
I think we will need to know the shape as well as the bond angles; we won't necessarily need to know the exact bond angle (in cases where lone pairs are present), but we will need to know an approximation (i.e. <109.5 in cases of trigonal pyramidal shape).
