For Test 2, at least?
I believe we do need to know the different shapes (trigonal pyramid etc) and be able to recognize them. I think having a general idea of bond angles is imp to be able to comment on the relative size of the bond angles of the diff bonds.
I think we memorise shapes and bond angles relative to each other, like why would a particular bond angle be smaller than another etc.
Does anyone know if test 2 is only covering outline 4? Or is it also outline 3?
Test 2 covers Outline 4 and pulls from concepts covered in Outline 3, specifically 3F.
Yes, we need to memorize the names of the molecular shapes and the rough bond angles. I.e. trigonal planar = shape. 120 degrees = bond angle. OR i.e. trigonal pyramidal = shape, < 109.5 degrees = angle.
I believe that it would be good to memorize the bond angles and molecular shapes for the test.
Yes, I believe we do. We will be tested on all of outline 4, and certain topics in outline 3
