Purpose of electron geometry

What is the purpose of electron geometry? If we use molecular geometry to name the shape of a compound, why do we look at electron geometry?

electron geometry is used in order to understand the electrons interactions in a 3D shape. also the molecular geometry vs shape is used to know angles of the bonds

Also electron geometry gives you a hint as to whether certain angles are larger/smaller than expected. If there are more lone pairs, they will have more "push" so the angles will likely be smaller than expected.
