VSEPR

Postby Alexis Robles 2k » Sun Nov 17, 2019 8:25 pm

We just need to know the names and not draw them for the test?

Correct. We will not be asked to draw them but we will need to name the shapes.

I'm pretty sure Lavelle said to just know how to draw the Lewis Structure and then what shape it is and maybe the bond angle.

^^ i think we would also need to know the bond angles and were not necessarily graded on the lewis structure, but in order to determine the shape, we'd have to know how to draw the lewis structure

exactly! we should be able to figure out the shape from the lewis structure & formula and then predict the geometric shape from there.

Yes that is what Lavelle said I believe.

Yes, all we need to know is the name of the models. you will, however, need to know how to draw the correct lewis structure and VSEPR notation to figure out what shape the model will be.

We need to know what the molecular shape for a given compound is, how to draw its Lewis structure, and the bond angles between all atoms in the molecule.
