Biological activity

Dr. Lavelle mentioned in the lecture that the shape and conformation of molecules often determine its biological activity, but I'm confused as to in what way does it determine biological activity?

In a molecule the shape of it may allow it to fit into an activation site of an enzyme. But more importantly the H bond makes an enzyme or protein into the shape it is through secondary stuctures. If those h bonds are broken the shape is lost and the protein cannot preform its function.

Shape will effect biological activity mostly for proteins and enzymes. Dr. Lavelle used it as an example in class to show us why the concept was important but I don't think it will be important to know anything about for the test.
