2.52 Molecules and ions, like atoms, can be isoelectronic. That is,
they can have the same number of electrons. For example, CH4 and
NH4 +1 re isoelectronic. Therefore, they have the same molecular
shape. Identify a molecule or ion that is isoelectronic with each of
the following species and verify that the members of each pair have
the same shape: (a) CO3 2-; (b) O3 ; (c) OH-

How do you find the isoelectronic species?

Atoms and ions with the same number of electrons are considered isoelectronic. They have the same electron configuration, but different properties due to the varying nuclear charge. F-,O2-, and Ne, for example, are isoelectronic.
