Is SO3(2-) polar or nonpolar?

I believe that it is polar, as through the Lewis structure and VSEPR, you find that the molecule as the shape trigonal pyramidal. Therefore, it would experience dipole moments, making it slightly polar.

The molecule is polar because of the lone pair and trigonal pyramidal molecular geometry. The dipole moments are not cancelled out because there is not one countering the two on the top, where there is the lone pair. In general if the structure is not linear and has a lone pair, it is going to be polar.

The presence of a lone pair is what makes it polar.
