Memorization of Molecular Shapes

Postby Sunia Akaveka 4I » Tue Nov 19, 2019 6:52 pm

When it comes to molecular shapes and shapes with the presence of lone pairs, does anyone have helpful pneumonics or techniques to memorize the many shapes?

This isn't quite what you are asking for but I'm memorizing them by imaging the electron density shape then removing atoms and replace them with lone pairs. Then you can picture what the molecule looks like and make it easier to identify its shape. For shapes not consisting of lone pairs, I'm memorizing them by using portions of the word (such as "tri") and relating how that term is represented in the model.
